About Us

The guys at Shorepound all started surfing in the late 50's and early 60's......mostly in the South Bay.  In fact our name, Shorepound, comes from the name given to the brain-shattering surf of the South Bay and other locations around the world.  When he was a little kid, the Dude lived in Hermosa Beach and went to Pier Avenue Elementary School when Greg Noll and others were just starting to show their new surf flicks at the school's auditorium on Pier Avenue.  That's where he learned what "shorepound" is all about.  A lot of water has gone under the pier, and the guys drifted down toward the Orange County coastline, but they kept surfing and stayed stoked.  Now they are early-retiring and getting back into the swing of things.......only now they have pads, cars and a couple of extra bucks to do the things they always wanted to do.

We figure there are a lot of other guys who are coming up on the same point in their lives and want to get back into surfing.  We are going to provide them with the things they want at a great value.  The basic style of the California surfing scene hasn't changed a lot since the 60's, but some of the stuff is a little hard to get.  That is where we come in.  We are going to find out where to get it and then provide it to you.

Surf Spots - We think a lot of guys are going to want to travel outside their local areas to new surf spots.  We are already going to all of the best surf spots and recording the GPS locations.  We are going to publish these locations for everyone to use.  All of you will be able to enter these locations in your car's navigation system and have your car take you there.  If you don't have a navigation system, we have portable units at a competitive cost.  By the way, we are also visiting the best breakfast places (for when the surf is flat) and the best "locally world-famous" beach bars up and down the coast and planning on publishing this information so you'll know what to do if the surf is flat.......or if you are just hungry or thirsty.

Marine - A lot of the same guys are also into other water-related activities.  That's why we offer an expanding line of marine products, at great value, to help our customers with their boats and other marine toys.

Other Stuff - We can't help it.....there are a lot of interesting things to do, and we are doing as many as we can.  Including utilizing our business background to provide business management advice and services to some of the small businesses in Hilo, Hawaii, where we are located.
